Hi everyone!
We inherited a Range Rover Vogue 2001 model at the beginning of this year and, unfortunately, we have run into quite a problem. We were told that we should NEVER lock the car and, of course, the car was locked (as accidents happen). The car was locked using the key in the door. After that, we got a message that the engine was disabled. Now, no matter what we have tried, we cannot disable the engine and the car is sitting like a giant brick on the side of the road. We were told by a mechanic that we all we can do is to try fix it ourselves, so here I am as a damsel in distress.
So far, we have tried the following:

So far, we have tried the following:
- Two different EKA codes - the car seems to be responding, because we are getting a message "key code lock out" after some tries, but the engine is still disabled.
- We have checked the keys - the transponders are still working
- We have been told that the keys are after-market-keys so that is why the EKA code is not working and we can no longer buy the factory keys
- We are in Cape Town, SA, and only one person has the tool to access the computer. They tried to access the computer, but they cannot disable the immobiliser
- We eventually convinced a mechanic to rip out all the electronics and replace them, but now they have changed their mind, and no one else is willing to do this (I also do not know if this will solve the problem)
- We opened the driver's door and tried to ground two specific wires - that did not seem to do anything
